So, what are the benefits of joining GAS ?

- Free training. We offer various courses including basic astronomy for complete beginners through to more advanced subjects.

- At our monthly observing sessions, the opportunity to get away from city lights and enjoy astronomy in the safety of a group.
- Access to a large telescope at our observatory. Any member is able to book and use the telescope once they have completed a short training session.
- After completion of a short training session, access to the society's imaging facility.
- Loan scopes - we have a variety of telescopes available for members to borrow. It's the ideal way to 'try before you buy'.
- The GAS library has hundreds of publications including books, magazines and CDs.
- Access to the members-only sections of the GAS web site.
- Social events including for example, a summer barbecue,a trip to a planetarium, and skittles night.
- Arranged observing sessions for transient astronomical events such as particular meteor showers, eclipses, comets.
- The opportunity to contribute to the society, whether on the committee, a member of the outreach team or in any other supporting role.
